In desert climates and artificially heated spaces, low humidity may occur. Low humidity has an adverse effect on the human body. Low humidity dries out the mucous membrane and also causes respiratory pain. Shrinkage and loose joints or cracking off pieces of wooden furniture are also caused due to low humidity.

A steam or a warm mist humidifier heats water that results in discharging steam into the air. These types of humidifiers are commonly known as vaporizers. They discharge steam and moisture into the air with the action of vaporization. Sometimes we add medicated inhalants to the steam vapour so that it is soothing to the users, especially if they are suffering from coughs etc. In general practice, vaporizer type of humidifiers are chosen over other forms of humidifiers that spray cool mist in the air because the vaporized air carry additional health benefit than cool mists. Impeller Humidifiers

A Cool Mist Humidifier, commonly known as the Impeller Humidifier, has a rotating disc that throws water to a diffuser. That diffuser breaks the water thrown to it into very small droplets which float into the air where it is being used. The water that is supplied to these humidifiers must be extremely clean since the same water is sprayed into the air that we breathe. If the water used is contaminated then there is a high risk of spreading diseases. But we should know one thing that these humidifiers make relatively more noise in comparison to other humidifiers.
